A Conversation with Maya Angelou
Good morning, Miss Angelou
How are you today?
I see you are looking wondrous these days…
Do you remember?
When we met
It was decades past
Since that day we sat
Socializing, talking, and discussing current events…
I was in awe
Of you
Your presence that day
Your elegance and wisdom beyond belief
Your knowledge of history
Very articulate indeed—
Your voice immaculate
And
Gifted with a poetic sound—
I wonder if
You were the messenger of God
How else can I explain?
Your harmony of sound—
Well! Young man
My harmony of sound—transcends
Years of struggles
And
Evildoers abound—
My words resuscitate
The angels of the past
So a messenger of God—hmm
I guess, you could say that
For I am the storyteller of second-chance lives—
Well, Miss Angelou
It is time to say our byes
Until, I call upon you
Once again, for the listening
Of your voice
And
The calmness of your spirit—
